The Picnic Grove
I had arrived in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia about 2 PM, checked in at a local campground and set up
for the night.  Around 4 PM I decided to do some scouting and drove to Fort Ann.  Fort Ann was built
by the British in the mid 18th century.  The Picnic Grove is an area of rolling lawns (the remains of the
old fortifications) and century old maple trees on a large bluff overlooking the harbor and the Bay of
Fundy.   The trees have been shaped by the prevailing winds sweeping in off the Bay.
The late afternoon sun side lighting the trees and undulating ground makes an intricate pattern of
light and shadow.
